BirdCam
We were inspired by the RSPB ‘Big Garden Birdwatch’ and conversations with neighbours to get a camera so we could capture evidence of visitors to our bird feeder. To get the camera close enough to the feeder to see the birds clearly, David put the camera on a wooden beam mounted on the fence. However, this made it very easy for the squirrels to jump from the camera to the feeder(!) which kept the birds away.
So the Anti-Squirrel Defence League was formed to devise increasingly challenging obstacles for the squirrels! Needless to say, the squirrels were undaunted by all our efforts until David built the ‘gallows’ structure, which is keeping them at bay! Finally, we’re were able to get lots of entertaining video (we’ve included a couple here) and some decent pics!
